The density isosurface displayed is 0.0000 g/cm3.

Welcome to the Virtual Brashear!

To view any isosurface, click the desired density in the color legend in the image above.

The isosurface consists of all voxels that are equal to the density selected. This creates a continuous shell which is the 3-D equivalent of a 2-D contour line. Because almost no sediment has a density less than that of water, isosurfaces generated at densities less than 1.0 encompass the entire volume.

Only the outermost isosurface shell will be visible. For details of the internal structure of the volume, see the volume animations. For scientific details of how the Brashear volume data were obtained and processed, see the Brashear Island Volumetric Interpolation page.

For an interactive interface to the Brashear volume data which allows the construction of customized animations, see the Virtual Brashear - Pick a Flick.
